Expression of solidarity and sympathy
It is with deep regret and concern that we have received the news of the tragic event at the Prague Faculty of Arts.
Professor Pavel Drábek teaches drama and theatre practice, history and theory at the University of Hull in the United Kingdom. He translates older English drama, and writes opera librettos and plays for the radio and the theatre. He spends his holidays in the Czech Republic.
The current THE World University Rankings include 2,092 institutions from 115 countries, 188 more than last year. Masaryk University scored higher than last year in 17 out of 18 indicators and maintained its overall 601-800th ranking position despite increasing competition.

This year's Researchers’ Night on the last Friday in September attracted a total of 7,458 visitors to Masaryk University. The event was held at eight places in Brno and at the University Centre Telč.

Classes at all faculties of Masaryk University started today, after being postponed by a week due to the emergency caused by the floods.
The new academic year at Masaryk University will start one week later – students will have their first classes on Monday 23 September.
